PASTOR

Dear new friends at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, I am excited to be accompanying you as your Interim Pastor, while you explore your congregation’s mission and prepare for the call of a new pastor! In the months ahead, I will be working with your MET (Mission Exploration Team) to prepare a Mission Site Profile which best describes your congregation, its mission and hopes, and what you might need in a pastor.
A little bit about me:
I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a B.A. in vocal music. After college, I sang with several symphony choirs, taught voice and piano and conducted several church children’s choirs. I received my Master of Divinity at the Nashotah House (Episcopal) Seminary and afterwards my Lutheran studies at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.
For over twenty eight years, I have been an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - having served seven congregations (including three previous interims) in rural, suburban and urban areas. My top five strengths (from the “Strength Finders” personal assessment) are Strategy, Input, Positivity, Communication and Connectedness. I hope these strengths serve you well during your interim process! I am married to Tom, who is retired, and have five children (one deceased) and seven grandchildren.
My hobbies include fishing, hiking, swimming, cross country skiing and reading. These hobbies really helped me during the pandemic! This past year and a half have been difficult for all of us, and we are faced with many new challenges ahead; but the Apostle Paul reminds us “all things work for good for those who love God and are called according to God’s purpose!” (Romans 8:28) May his wise words lead us in our time together!
